to any of her local oncology appointments because covid is so rampant and the University of Miami has shut down all visitors (it's getting better over the last few weeks so I'm hoping they loosen up again). I have to drop her off for her chemo appointments and she has to sit in the chair for 5 hours by herself. .If she has a fever of 100.4 or higher, I have to take her straight to the ER. Up until a few weeks ago, taking her to the local ER would not have been an option because Boca regional was totally overrun with covid patients and the admit process was hours upon hours. My doctor friend couldn't get one of his patients admitted for a GI bleed a month ago because the hospital he has privileges at was overwhelmed with covid patients. And it's all pretty much 100% preventable now which is what is so frustrating to me.

When we go to New York, I AM able to go to my wife's appointments because of the more responsible way in which Covid has been handled of late compared to Florida. And it's not like New York is some hellhole of covid restrictions. We eat out (outside) go to museums (with masks) and basically are able to carry on life as normally as we do in Florida, but without having to deal with hospitals being overrun by covid patients.

And one final point... the bads ARE really bad, and it's 1 out of 5 people. That's not rare. I also think some of the moderate cases within the 80% "mild to moderate" are pretty bad too. But clearly the 1 out of 5 severe and critical cases are really, really bad.
