I'm with you on your first 3 sentences.

And if any of my immediately family was in the position of your wife, i wouldn't let them out of the house and I myself would do nothing to risk bringing something in to my house. we would be hermits as much as we could be.

But i wouldn't blame it on any person. I would blame the virus. And no amount of vaccinations is going to help this in the short term. What's the fastest any of these viruses have been eradicated? Or at least knocked back far enough to allow life to resume like normal? It's a long road man. The virus is going to be around a NY restaurant as much as it will a FL restaurant. It only takes ONE person.
