I was out to dinner with 2 of my close Trumpie friends yesterday.

Nice evening - great steak. We mostly stayed away from politics. As we were leaving, they started laughing about the fraud in the 2020 election. They pointed to Detroit - 100% of the vote went to Biden in Detroit, they said, and that proves that the election was rigged. I just said goodbye and didn't start a debate on it.

I did look up Detroit this morning. In fact, Biden did carry the city with around 95% of the vote. In 2016, Hillary won the city with almost exactly the same % of the vote. In 2012, Obama won the city with almost exactly the same % of the vote. In 2008, Obama won the city with almost exactly the same % of the vote.

So, in the last 4 elections, the dem pres candidate carried the city by between 94% and 97% of the popular vote (one of O's wins was the 97%). It can only be an indicator of fraud if one reads an echo chamber piece saying Biden got 100% of the Detroit vote! It has to avoid the reality that it wasn't actually 100%, and it was completely consistent with every prior election (the site I looked at only went back to 2008, but the pattern is clear).

If they tell the whole story, it becomes a very strong indicator that there was clearly no fraud in 2020 in Detroit. Not to mention that nobody has produced a theory on how this fraud occurred or any evidence whatsoever to support it.

A good example of the challenges to the institutions that allow our democracy to function emanating from the party of undemocracy.
