It's a problem with hero worship

They say never to meet your heroes for a reason. I don't particularly doubt that many of the heroes of the Civil Rights movement who are being honored as replacements for today's removed statues have skeletons in their closets, or are guilty of things that tomorrow's society will care about more than we do today.

The fact that society evolves does not mean the world is ending. I recognize that this is anathema to Social Conservatives, but it's also true.
