That's a really good surface level article to articulate part of the very point I've always made on this push to EV's and "green energy" (or at least the green energy options acceptable to the left), so thank you for linking that. This line sums up what has seemed always simplistically obvious IMO:

BTW I was not aware that Alaska was a big player here to motivate Murkowski. Wouldn't at all surprise me if they have plenty of reserves (Canada sure does), and I'm not questioning your suspicion that that's part of her motivation, but I typically think of places like WY, NV, and even CA when it comes to mining and processing the materials in question.
