It isn’t pure fiction. Problem is too many of us see one perspective only.
In fact it’s worse - you can see why by glancing up a few posts. JM demonized CNN with a link to a Twitter feed twice in this thread. The one above is a recycle of an earlier thread where some of us actually read the two articles being joined out of context on someone’s Twitter feed, and we pointed out that the two are not actually inconsistent with each other. Not only did JM not respond at all to those points the first time, he actually reposted it here as though that discussion never happened. That’s the distortion of reality.
I’m using JM as an example, which is not intended to say this sort of thing doesn’t exist across the political spectrum. You can find similar social media out of context feeds against FOX. Point is, JM isn’t deciding CNN is a corrupt leftist site because he’s reviewed it himself and come to that conclusion. He is fed (and eagerly swallows) that conclusion by his social media feed. And is so sealed away in his own worldview that he recycled a fully debunked propaganda piece from just a few days, or maybe a week ago. He didn’t read either article.
That unwillingness to venture out of the echo chamber is the life blood of these cable news and social media empires. Which distort reality into biased dystopias. To the point where we simply no longer share the same reality.
