In spite of all the right wing nonsense to the contrary, government is a perfectly acceptable and noble career that many people choose and some really excel at. The last 3 democrats worked hard and rose from humble circumstances to get to where they are, that success afforded them book deals and speaking fees that ultimately drive wealth. Just because you have a simple world view "gov't = bad" doesn't make them any less self made.

On the other hand, Trump would be far wealthier if he put his daddy's money into an index fund the last 50 years. W's trajectory was similar to Hunter Biden, partying and using the family name as leverage. I'm glad he got clean and his better qualities seem to shine more and more with age.

Lots of good people want the job of US President, the process just doesn't select the best people. Some of us would like to reform how elections work here, some want billionaires and corporate donors to continue to drive the process.
