Violent crime is up. The question is why? I'm not sure I blame either Trump

or Biden any more than I blamed Nixon or Ford or Carter for the higher murder rates in the 70's. I do think that social media might bear some responsibility; the divisiveness and tribalism probably contributes to homicides as it does to suicide rates. The ubiquity of weapons continues to be a problem. Yes, policing continues to be an issue, whether it is abuse of authority or lack of resources or reticence over enforcement.

The question is, what policies could help reverse the trend?
