So how good is a trans athlete allowed to be?

Just about every standout athlete got where they are thanks in large part to genetics and anomalous physical gifts. Why are Katie Ledecky’s physical advantages acceptable and Lia Thomas’s aren’t? Only cis women are allowed to be 6 feet tall with large wingspans and still compete?

There are a lot of voices, even trans voices, asking for better rules. That was certainly the case with the FTM boys wrestler in Texas who was dominating the girls tournaments. He wanted a different rule to compete against boys, not to make a clown show of the girls bracket. I have no idea how you craft a rule that is both respectful to the trans athletes and the other competitors. Longer period of time on hormones? How long? That could eventually account for muscle mass, but obviously wouldn’t for height or something like hand size.

I’ll be interested to see ideas from more intelligent news sources than fucking Outkick.
