One of the best and worst things over the past two years is that a lot of people have let their masks drop, no pun intended. We are not by any means living in Nazi Germany -- or, to use a more modern example, Venezuela -- but having seen what has been countenanced here as being just fine, it cleared up a mystery to me about how in the not too distant past an educated, western, fairly wealthy populace could let themselves slide into those horrors. It just takes a vacuum created by good people doing nothing until it's too late.

These poll results are probably not too far off the mark, and they reflect what's transpired in some of our kissing-cousin nations across Europe, in Canada and in Australia/NZ. Easy to understand that a reasonably large constituency could exist here, too. We've already reached the stage where a designated minority is losing their livelihoods or being restricted from accessing society in many of our big cities, including the nation's capital, and I'd say at least half of Dems are in favor of that.
