End of Jim Crow, laws ostensibly to restrict voting access have never been shown to materially impact turnout. I personally think repubs are rolling back rules that made voting access easier last year, with no evidence that any of the increase in turnout was fraudulent, although I think it had more to do with circumstances than rules.

If I were the king of the dems, I would ignore nonsense like food vendors at voting lines, and I’d support voter IDs - acknowledging that the process of ensuring all can get them is on ongoing process. No, all my focus would be on the state rules allowing for partisan takeovers of elections - I’d be filing lawsuits over them starting now - and on reforming the Electoral Count Act.

But Tom here’s your problem. Repubs are the ones claiming a past problem of all these ineligible people voting and then passing laws to address them, without a shred of proof that the problem even exists. Many dems are simply saying you are implementing solutions without any evidence of problems, and thus they can only be about restricting voting access. Basically, repubs are upset that so damn many people voted! But no proof that ineligible people voted, except for the odd case of repubs taking Don’s advice and trying to vote twice.

So, you know, the burden of proof is on you.
