Elected officials to clean house and bring in their own people reporting to them when their terms begin. Far as I know, the at least one other attorney from George Mason who was let go had nothing to do with the Jan 6 investigation.

If Heaphy or anyone else claimed that the AG’s office issued an ultimatum to resign from the Jan 6 commission or lose his job with UVa, I’d be a lot more miffed about it. That would be clear obstruction, whereas as it played out, his work for the Jan 6 commission is not effected by this. And as the article I read this morning says, it is not the only thing Heaphy’s been involved in that might run afoul of current repub thinking.

In the grand scheme of things, this is not the most terrible thing I’ve seen, and I have no doubt that Mr. Heaphy will do just fine with his qualifications.
