Here's something I hope you will think about. Conservatives seem to be
wired to think the Good Ol' Days were in fact better. They thus have a bias toward believing the opinions of people in the past (whether 250 years ago or 2000 years ago) should hold more weight than those of people in the present.
You see this in religion. There are many people in our country who believe what is in the Bible is the gospel (even though it was cobbled together from myriad often conflicting accounts over a long time period). Yet those same people do not believe contemporary experts in their fields (doctors advocating vaccination for example). Sometimes they don't believe things they can see with their own eyes.
There is something magical about the past to conservatives. Yet the Founding Fathers, as smart as they were, were just people. And a lot has changed since then. We routinely deal with issues they never could have envisioned. That is why originalism makes no sense to me.
