Comprised of firms with employees like any other industry, where most of the employees are products of our system of higher learning which is becoming less tolerant of ranges of viewpoints. So examples from other industries are clearly relevant to the opening anecdote of the article. Why would the judicial system be exempt from this trend?

Of course it’s about a recent trend, not a concerted decades long top down effort like you describe on the right. It’s a much more recent bottom up development from the left.

I believe the judiciary is becoming increasingly over-politicized, and I’m not even disputing your concerns. That doesn’t mean this isn’t also a concern. While I’m not plugged into the judiciary intimately, I’d find it hard to believe the illiberalism coming from the left isn’t having an impact, as it is elsewhere in our society.
