Sorry for going full on whaddabout here, but I clearly recall you leading the ‘box charge to give Trump a Nobel peace prize for his bromance and photo-ops with North Korea, almost immediately after promising to reign down hell on them like the world has never seen. Flip flop galore.

Certainly no compelling economic reason to engage with Kim. He has nothing we want or need. Still, while I thought the bromance was a typical Trumpie circus, it was worth a try. Not Nobel prize worthy, but worth a try.

Who doubts you’d be here accusing Biden of ignoring realpolitik and the overarching need to address inflation if Biden stood purely on principle and skipped this meeting?

Dealing with Saudi Arabia is not really optional for the leader of the free world right now. It is not going to produce any breakthroughs in oil production by all accounts, but it’s still worth a try. It might plant seeds that take root down the road.

Much likelier is that the trip will result in some positive momentum in the Abraham Accords, which is why I find Trumpie accusations here so baffling. SA was always the gold ring of those negotiations, and the geopolitics appear aligned to make real progress.

Of all of Joe’s gaffs, flip flops, and evident weakness as president, this is the least objectionable by far. Dare I say, it’s not objectionable at all.
