The good side is kids with legit gender dysphoria are far more supported and accepted. That bad side is kids without legit gender dysphoria experiment around with gender fluidity. If that’s all there is to it, I don’t think there’s much of a downside.

Some friends of our have a daughter that in 6th or 7th grade began identifying as a boy. This was not a casual, half asses change… she went 2 or 3 full years fully identifying as a boy, dressing like a boy, referring to herself as a boy, etc. then in high school she went back to identifying as a girl for a short period of time. Then back to a boy for a short period of time. By late high school, she was back ton identifying as a girl. She’s now in college and has been identifying as a girl for at least 3 years and has had a serious boyfriend for over a year. We’re not close, but according to a friend who is, she seems like a perfectly normal, well adjusted female college student.

So in the end, no harm, but… if she had been given hormone therapy or more dramatic “therapy”… and back in middle school she would have passed the hurdles for living as another gender for multiple years… this might not have turned out so well.

So I’m fine with kids experimenting (just please god, not my kids) but we REALLY need to slow roll, if not shut down entirely, anything permanent on kids. Not that I think this is remotely a major problem, but I believe there are teenagers who have been given hormone/ puberty blockers. There should be a massively high hurdle for that to be approved.
