Also oversupply of capital, largely from mismanaged COVID “relief” to


businesses that didn’t need any help and the tax cuts which were also just windfalls to the already rich. I had a number of clients who started 2020 with staff cuts and tightening but closed the books on the year with more money than they knew what to do with and decided to do acquisitions in 2021 just to offload cash. My profession too — firms made money hand over fist with the glut of transactional work and lack of expenses and are still in an arms race for talent with groups lateralling all over the place. It’s cooling down, but its been a capital orgy the last few years.

Seems to have factored in as well on top of supply chain issues.
