I think ascribing that influence to Jewish Americans is its own kind of antisemitism. Just another way to introduce collective guilt into the protests. Back in ‘01, we heard much the same about the supposed influence Muslim Americans can have on Islamist terrorists. The terrorists were in their midst, after all. To which Muslims responded..”you think AQ asks for my opinions?”
Some of the same folks who objected to that kind of collective guilt (and again when Trump introduced the Nazi-esque idea of a Muslim registry in ‘16), seem a little more tolerant of it in this context. It’s really no different. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 04/22/2024 09:48AM]
