Ok. You seem to agree that Jewish students are being identified by
Protestors, and targeted for some sort of special responsibility for the Israeli govt policies they oppose. They’re being chased down city blocks, or being accosted on the way to a library to force them to make their positions known. Those are common reports.
Was it “different” to you in ‘01 when Muslims were targeted specifically, as having some special place of responsibility? I had an anecdote - a Rastafarian dude, who was mostly about pot, who lived on my apartment floor was harassed by some folks in a store who picked him out as Muslim due to a turban he liked to wear. Ironically, because I suspected that he was Jewish, marijuana worship aside. That was not ok with me. I can at least agree that you’re consistent if you think those mistaken people were coming from a different place than pure, hateful Islamophobia. I just can’t agree with that - it’s its own kind of Islamophobia, grounded in sweeping generalizations about collective guilt for heinous terrorist acts.
Same thing when Jewish kids are singled out by mobs of protestors as bearing special responsibility for Israeli policies. Sweeping generalization about collective guilt.
