Short answer? Nobody. Israel can go into Rafah and destroy remaining

Hamas brigades. They can’t destroy the Hamas diaspora, and it’s insane to expect a different result from the attempt a generation ago to destroy the PLO in Lebanon. The PLO was not destroyed. Hezbollah was created. Time will tell what name the extremists created in the WB and Gaza will take in the future, but Hamas will not be destroyed.

I think the timing of the attacks was more than coincidental with progress in the Abraham Accords. But it is disingenuous to claim Gazans had no beef with Israel because they didn’t occupy Gaza. It’s hemmed in, and all movement of material and people is under Israel’s thumb. A govt in which Gazans have no voice. The plight of Gazans has been a joint venture of Hamas and Israel since 2006. Israel has helped boost Hamas’ fortunes financially during that time. Almost exclusively Bibi govts, which expressly wanted Hamas in control in Gaza and Fatah in the WB.
