eaten there has been more in the nature of the smallest corn tortillas slightly heated on a little griddle and used as a staging device for the filling, served and eaten open-faced.

Not to mention anything remotely resembling the giant white flour tortillas wrapping enough food for a Mexican family of four that is the "Mission-style" American burrito.

I have eaten a whole lot of enchiladas there though. Tacos, tacos, and more tacos. Quesadillas and even tostadas and chile rellenos. Trying to remember the last time I even saw a burrito. I believe I have seen more cheeseburgers than I have seen burritos.

(A little research after writing the above tells me that my knowledge is limited by my purity of experience in Chihuahua specifically Ciudad Juarez, where something called a "burrito" is indeed prevalent, if much smaller and thinner than the huge American concoctions referenced above. But it also confirmed that my memory is correct about the places I have been, primarily Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, Cozumel/Cancun/ Mayan Riviera in Quintana Roo, Cabo San Lucas in Baja Sur, and Puerto Penasco in Sonora.)
