I disagree with your characterization of the NK exchange. I actually
Think from a purely political viewpoint, Trump did a pretty good job of appeasing his base with fiery tough talk, knowing full well NK had to back down. It gave him the chance to show a different course with results. You and I may agree the outcome would have been the same with much more subdued rhetoric but that was low-hanging fruit and he grabbed it. The average American (or at the very least his base) will say Trump threatened NK and they backed down. That may be part of the Reason the media isn't talking about NK any more. It doesn't reflect as poorly on Trump with the average voter as you may think
Now the weekend presented more low hanging fruit and after an initial misstep he seemed to get it right on Monday but then went off the reservation on Tuesday. And you saw Kelly's reaction. If I were advising him, I wouldn't have him answer any press questions other than a well orchestrated interview with a very friendly journalist.
