You’d need to get your hands on a Birth Certificate for person of the same race and gender and approximate same age. Nowadays birth and death records are reconciled in most states. Most US Americans never get a passport. You could go after someone alive.
I have an Irish and US passport. I was born in NYC to an Irish Mum. I’m entitled to Canadian and UK citizenship as well, but those would put my Muhriken citizenship at risk.
