First of all, I was explaining how things are. Not necessarily how they should be.

Also I seem to be mellowing into more of a pragmatist as I age. My cynical old self sees an awful lot of people who try to justify seriously ignorant shit by claiming some sort of noble ideological basis for it. We don't live in a perfect world. People are neither intelligent, rational, nor benevolent. At least not enough of them. I'm probably going to always wave the flag of smaller government organized best from the bottom up, but I do realize that effective compromise is usually the better way to get things done.

So call me an Efficient Pragmatist, I guess, because pure Libertarianism (pure anything) doesn't really work outside of a classroom.
