is the way of US businesses. My daughter has a demanding job for a major data center. The company is growing, making money (I hold their stock) building new data centers (including N. Virginia), but last week, they announced the termination after Thanksgiving of all their employees who do physical work of wiring, the physical reconfiguration of servers, etc. The reason they gave is they think they can save some money using contract workers to do the job. A few days later, my daughter was called into HR, so she expected the ax, but instead, she received a merit increase. She felt no joy from it, as people she knew to be good and loyal employees were being terminated.
