She could have died from alcohol poisoning, she could have run into traffic and died that way? I think her friend made the right call to call 911. It sounds like the police were aware that she could not refuse medical treatment if she was unconscious but that once she became conscience she could (and did) refuse medical treatment. It sounds like the police officer stopped her from running away and potentially getting injured. The assault on a law enforcement officer charge sounds appropriate, as does the plea to a lesser offense since the officer wasn't injured. I think it's time for this young person to understand that there are appropriate consequences for poor decisions. I also hope her parents let her learn this lesson before she gets herself into something that they can't get her out of.
