Thomas Friedman had some interesting comments in an interview last night
He pointed out that in both the Trans Pacific agreement, and in the issue of Jerusalem as the location of the US Embassy, Trump basically gave away some strong negotiation opportunities. In Israel, for example, he said the US could have offered our moving the embassy to Jerusalem, but only if we received a strong commitment from Israel to stop building settlements in the West Bank. He concludes that Trump approaches these complex problems, ignorant about history and facts, and consequently his so-called negotiating prowess is a joke in this enviornment.
