It doesn't help that if you WERE going to make it up, you'd also make sure

to push it out 4-6 weeks before an election. I'm not saying it is made up - he really hasn't even denied it very strongly ... but the timing + the fact that there's already been some admitted exaggerating is not ideal, either.
