That's not really true. In fact, I'd argue that "productivity" has NOTHING


to do with the decision to give one benefits or not. It's more about whether the labor market demands benefits to work a given job. For low level jobs where employees have been commoditized and have little or no negotiating power, employers have little incentive to give them benefits unless they choose to like Starbucks and some other progressive companies do.

Personally would prefer to divorce health coverage entirely away from employers.
