I don't think anyone wants to cut Medicare and Social Security because they think the programs are terrible. Rather the argument is that these programs need to be cut because they are costing too much money and the normal rationale is that demographics are changing in terms of the working class population and how long elderly people live. But this article turns that on its head. It is not demographic changes that are driving a spike in costs, but rather rising health care costs.

If this were appreciated more then I would hope that the Republicans in Congress would change their focus from entitlement reform to health care cost reform.
