Hard to find the truth all the time.
That's why we're constantly finding out things about the past that we never knew at the time.
Not to say this media revolution isn't very different. We have too many choices, but ironically, unused choices for most of us because we have too many echo chambers. But the outlets commonly referred to as the "MSM" have not lost their journalistic integrity. That doesn't mean we get the whole truth (we never have and in my mind no doubt we get much more than hundreds of years ago), or they are impartial (independent is the key), or that they never make mistakes (each one leading to a giant Trumpie orgasm). And we haven't adjusted to the pace of tech change.
But this notion that the press no longer serves a purpose, or mostly reports falsehoods, is just Trumpie demagoguery, and is also nothing new.
