At the end of Obama's term, there was no talk of 'balancing the budget'

I have zero problem with the Kenseyian model. I'm a huge fan of it. But when the economy normalized at the end of his term, there was no outcry from Dems that we needed to increase taxes or cut spending. It has never been a priority.

The fact that Rs pretended it was a priority, despite all evidence to the contrary, though, is kind of crazy. Never again should they be branded as anything but more reckless than Dems regarding the budget/deficit. Rs want to blast Dems as 'tax and spend' liberals. But, at least Ds are trying to offset that spending. It's a much safer path than don't tax and spend. But being less crazy than Republicans doesn't necessarily make Dems budget conscious.
