I interpreted Matt as saying that the Trump admin traffics in lies so consistently that the nation is becoming conditioned to it, and he hopes that will change after Trump.

I was just drawing an analogy (and forget the inevitable Trump/anti-Trump argument about whether he is different from prior admins in his treatment of facts - I'm just addressing a guy on the anti-Trump side) - Trump is hardly anyone's idea of a women's rights advocate, yet because of the reactions against him, women have been more vocal and more forceful than ever before, and it's quite possible that the Trump years will turn out to be a watershed moment for advancement of women's rights. Precisely because he is perceived as a misogynist by so many people.

The nation's relationship with "truth" might follow a similar pattern - such revulsion at the admin that coined the phrase "alternative facts" that it winds up valuing "truth" more than ever before.
