Before social/digital media when I was involved in running political campaigns as I said we would poll people in the district/state, then tailor messages to what people said would change their minds. The only way to measure if it worked was if our candidate got a bump in the polls and ultimately if they won. And of course it was impossible to tell how much of if it was due to the advertising or not.

At least with digital/social you know it’s resonating through engagement. And exposure to related messaging over a period of time is proven to have an effect.

I suppose you could look at some of the exit polls and other interviews to see what messages resonated most with Trump voters and then correlate them back to the Facebook content and see how they match up. I’d imagine they will likely match up quite well.
