It's a matter of scale for me

All organized religions suck, and while they all have extremists, "radical violent christianity" is not 1/1000th the global problem that is "radical islam". In fact, I don't think it's even that close. So that's why people don't automatically ask those questions.

And fwiw, I think describing him as "literally training with religious groups that emphasized military tactics" when the military tactics apparently involved a bunch of home schooled kids participating in archery, learning gun skills, having water balloon fights, and using and foam weapons to act out a battle, seems like a bit of a stretch to me.
