"Listens to kids for advice". How about just happy to see kids engaged?
Having a passion over an issue and expressing themselves pretty powerfully all over the country, and the world. Even if you disagree with their POV on this, if you value our republic, this bodes well. Sorry to state the obvious but today's kids are tomorrow's adults; tomorrow's leaders. Better this than the disengagement we see many warn of w/r/t our younger citizens.
And you seem to suggest that your opinion is "more valid" because you were in the military. Thanks for your service, but military service is not a prerequisite for having an opinion on gun control. Many, many Americans think we have too much of a love affair with guns in this country. These kids will be voting in a few years - hopefully, they will retain this passion, and maybe, one generation at a time, attitudes towards guns will change.
Which can happen while no law abiding gun toting citizen has his or her rights trampled. Personally, I'm happy to see the ignorant kids engaged, and I'm rooting for them.
