Yeah, I agree, but the greater concern from my standpoint

is how Trump seems to have taken over the repub party to such a degree that they have completely abandoned some of the foundational principles of the party. Mainly on economics. Trade is the greatest example, but in other respects as well, the repub party just isn't the party of free markets anymore (like applauding interference in boardrooms about corproate decisions).

Not saying that is black and white - Trumpies will point to killing regulations, and Trump is their greatest ally ever on certain social issues, like immigration and abortion. But no objections to Trump's now discredited objections to AT&T/Time Warner, which looked like a pure personal vendetta against CNN. Same with his attacks on Bezos - appears mostly to be an attack on the WAPO. And repub candidates right now who dares to criticize things about Trump that they would always have criticized in a dem gets them defeated in a primary.

It is a pure cult of personality overwhelming policies. It looks like "if Trump says it we're on board" and it doesn't seem to matter whether it reflects core repub values. Repub values seem to be boiling down to "yay Trump!"

We're not just capable of electing somebody like him. A large chunk of the country is capable of worshipping somebody like him. I think dems need to look long and hard at why to defeat him.
