actual citizens, legal immigrants, and those currently paid to not work find those jobs more acceptable. Besides, how is not better using H2B visas for targeted needs not a smarter immigration system? Or at least smarter than just letting someone in because they're someone's brother/sister, or parent of an adult. Is that brother/sister coming here specifically to pick lettuce like the H2B visa holder is? Are they more likely to do the picking than someone else in their same country that doesn't have a family member already here?

IIRC we're somewhere in the 60-70% range of chain migrants out of our total legal immigrants (and some estimates higher), while qualified immigrants are left to wait years or immigrate elsewhere. I think we'll survive if we limit that spouses and minor children, and let the brothers, sisters and parents of adults to apply on their own for what would now be more available spots not already taken up by that wide pool of chain migrants. I'm not sure why we seem to think the breadth of our current chain migrants is so untouchable. I do understand why Matt and others would jump on that, because it's the only thing he can point to to encourage others to "hate Trump", when logic and common sense no longer defends his position.
