OK, couple of responses:
1) Sanctions ARE being enforced. So I've yet to see a good explanation reconciling Trump being on Putin's take and the fact that the fairly onerous sanctions imposed in 2014 are still in place
2) Trump bombed Syria against Putin's warnings to stay out of his business.
3) In order to believe Trump is acting on Putin's desires makes Trump's actions more calculating and well thought out than I'm willing to give him credit for.
So you could start by explaining #1 & #2 and how those items reconcile to Trump being compromised and doing Putin's bidding. #1 in particular because the 2014 sanctions are actually a pretty big deal to russia.
