I don't think you can blame this on lack of competition (insurers pulling


out). There's still a cap on profits and insurers must pay out 80% of premiums collected in health care costs. So if they're charging $36K for a family, they have to be paying out $29K in medical costs.

I think the answer is partly / largely in Hoos Operators post. If the average medical cost for a family is $28K, then I guess I can see insurance being north of that. Still seems crazy. We have to get medical costs down. You can't have the average medical costs for a family at nearly 50% of median household income.
