Not always. In fact sometimes they are counter-predictive


I can imagine plenty of jobs and scenarios where being a stand-up guy is a hindrance.

Furthermore, "character" often depends on caring, and it's a simple (unfortunate) fact that someone's family is NOT always the most important thing to them, personally. Especially those who have to put so much of themselves into whatever career it is that they have entered.

I don't particularly think that most high-level executive positions have a damn thing to do with the job-holder's marital fidelity.
