Thanks for acknowledging that "nazis are worse people than the media". I guess it goes to show that however appalling a sentiment is, it can always be worse. So congrats for not hitting the absolute bottom.

This is a downright dangerous sentiment. And it is the wet dream of the kind of fascists that the counter protesters were there to oppose (and those who did so violently can't blame the nazis, the media or rin-tin-tin for their actions - they are to blame for that). When bad things happen they want the public to become mob-like and pick a scapegoat. Sometimes, it can be a group of people. Often, it is the media - the part of society trying to shine a spotlight on the things they would prefer to keep hidden. Make them to blame for something like the murder on the mall, and you get the mobs to do their job for them! Kill them! They are the enemy of the people! They want you to die!

When Benjamin Franklin said "its a republic, if you can keep it", I think he would highlight your anti-free press sentiments in this thread as an outstanding example of how not to keep it.
