Charlottesville is a "tough place"?
I listened to this interview with the Mayor this morning. I have not lived in the Charlottesville area for many years but I did not consider it to be a "Tough place" at the time. Maybe it's changed a lot for the worse? Every community has it's mean streets and every community has wealthy residents and residents below the poverty line. It sounds to me that the Mayor lacks perspective. I get that she wants to improve the lives of low income residents. But I think she will end up hurting the people that she wants to help. The tax base will just move to the county. The University provides revenue through meal and hotel taxes but the City can not directly tax State property. I would be interested in what people who still live in the area think?
