Don't you think that's happened?

I see a lot of new blood coming into Congress and state offices across the country. New blood can't really start in leadership roles. It has to percolate a bit.

The good news IMO is that the new blood is not a bunch of AOC clones. The goal of Trumpies is to make AOC the emblem of the new blood, and Nancy Pelosi (or the public persona they've created who's name is Nancy Pelosi) the emblem of the old guard, and then associate everything dem with socialism. But I would say the renewal process for them got underway, with lots of new female faces, but not lots of extreme Warren/Bern type populists.

A hard turn the right was presaged for the repub party by the 2010 midterms. That party has completed a morph to populist nationalism, with more in common with the party of Marine Le Pen than the party of George HW Bush, to be topical. I am cautiously optimistic that the dem party has not made a similar turn towards the extreme populist left. That's what I am most concerned about managing away from as we move towards 2020, rather than just away from the tired old retreads.
