Good on Bernie for releasing his taxes. And exposing that he's a hypocrite.
:-)
I still think you're missing my point. This isn't about him making a ton of money selling Socialism thanks to Capitalism. I am pro-Capitalism. This is not about his taking SS benefits, for which he paid into (although some Fed employees are outside the SS system, so he may be eligible due to his wife, but she paid in, so that irrelevant). He's entitled to those benefits and certainly isn't arguing to cut them (quite the opposite).
This is about him wanting to force all of us to pay (some much more than others if they're "rich") more so that everyone can have his Medicaid-for-all ideal. (and I'm not criticizing his having that ideal, I'm mostly on board as I've given up hoping either party is capable or willing to fix our current mess) If he thinks that is the ideal, and he's certainly now one of those "rich" that would have to pay more than his fair share for it to happen, he could start by doing that now. Put his money where his mouth is (in terms of wanting to force others to do so) if you will. Nothing is stopping him from starting with Medicaid-for-some with his newly gained riches from trying to push it on others.
A similar analogy would be those that want to force others to reduce their carbon footprint, while flying around in their private jets and leaving their mansions to tell us how virtuous they are for espousing this.
Edit. I see now the OP was about collecting SS benefits, and that a prior thread was about his low charitable giving. My point was probably misplaced. [Post edited by Hoodafan at 04/16/2019 1:24PM]
