The topic has become all about emotion like any that becomes a political identity issue. Can't be a repub unless you give Trump full throated support about the wall (and pretend that nothing else even matters), and you can't be a good dem unless you oppose the wall completely, no room for compromise, regardless of how much you once indicated that physical barriers were part of the solution.

I think I agree with just about every word, except at the very end, where he lays the blame for the inability to compromise at Trump's feet entirely. I would honestly lay it more at Nancy's and Chuck's feet, although Trump shares in it. But it's the dems who have stated that there is no room at all for compromise. Trump compromised - last year the demand was $25 bil, and during the shutdown he lowered that considerably. The dems are mostly concerned with making Trump explain his failure to deliver a wall, and passed up an oppty to resolve the DACA issue once and for all in pursuit of that. Maybe the psycho tea party repubs would never have let it pass, in which case fine, no wall money, but the dems didn't even take the oppty to try.
