Pro-Israeli forces are as guilty as anyone at times of "playing the race card", by shutting down any criticism of Israel with accusations of anti-semitism.

Which is not to say we Jews don't manage to find ourselves in the crosshairs on the left and the right. One of my faves from the left was a story told by an early Jewish advocate of the pussy hatter women's marches, who went to a meeting with fellow agitators only to find herself under attack by other protestors, who apparently thought she needed to carry the burden of Jewish guilt for all the real and perceived wrongs committed by the Jewish people over the years. Poor woman felt driven from a movement she thought she helped as much as anyone to create.

Yeah, the left has had trouble unifying behind a clear denunciation of "anti-Semitic tropes" on freshman reps' Twitter feeds. Some of their fellow progressives don't want criticism of Israeli policies and American support for it drowned out by accusations of anti-semitism. For trumpies in particular, but many other pro-Israeli folks I personally know too, this makes the entire left anti-Semitic. But Trumpies don't mind so much when anti-Semitic marchers mimicking a 1930s Nazi pogrom screaming "Jews will not replace us" get a pass from the orange one. Very good people marching there.

So it was a perfectly good troll. One that Trumpies have trouble with. We Jews are lucky - we seem to get a lot of negative attention from all sides of the political spectrum. And all sides have some difficulty addressing it in their midst. This is an area where the ol' race card gets played. If you're critical of Israel, somebody will accuse you of anti-semitism. And unfortunately, in some cases, it's true. Conversely, it's impossible to think of Trump personally as anti-Semitic. But he frequently has trouble denouncing anti semitism because politically engaged neo Nazis tend to be on the alt right, which is Trump support central.
