What makes that absurd? It's not like the market for cars isn't super

competitive now. If someone could make an F150 competitor of comparable quality/specs/performance for significantly lower price, they would, and would sell a ton.

JMHoo's point below is valid. Also, the quality of cars have gotten so much better that they don't need to be replaced as frequently. You could buy a base F150 for $30K, put 10% down and finance it for 5 years with a ~$500 monthly payment. Change the oil and service it regularly and you could easily drive it for 10 years/200K miles with the last 5 years being payment free. That seems pretty manageable.
