Trump didn't bring us that revelation Tuck. Everyone agrees the whole

system is flawed. Nobody agrees on how to address the flaws. And it shouldn't be this hard. Problem is - its another 3rd rail of American politics. I think we used to have 1 third rail, and now we seem to have at least 50. Political identity issues - you need to be all in one way or the other to live up to the identity. Thus, compromise is nearly impossible.

To a degree I do blame the dems. Trump can be extremely easy to compromise with IMO, especially if you leave him his bluster. You see it in this thread - he applauds THIS GREAT NEW APPROACH TO COUNTING CITIZENS!!, to the cheers of the true citizens of Trumpistan, even though it's nothing. He's not doing anything that wasn't already being done. He's just saving face. Dems could have gotten him on board with the dreamer resolution, for example, if they gave him token money for a border barrier. Something dems used to accept - physical barrier for a portion of the border. Give him that piece of red meat to throw out to the hounds at his pep rallies, and get back agreement on the dreamers (unless the tea party blows it up, which they could then use against them).

But the dems couldn't do that anymore. They'd step on the third rail if they did.
