I also think it's potentially informative for Dems in that they may find a
"true believer" type like Warren or Sanders does better against Trump because he does such an excellent job bringing people down to his level and making them sling mud with him. For a politician that tries to be all things to all people (Rubio, Jeb, Clinton), that gets messy quickly. Lizzie and Bernie have no interest in being all things to all people. Still, I think what they're selling is objectively unpopular to the political center which is also a potential landmine for the Dems ... they crushed it in the midterms by winning suburban centrists. Picking a candidate that actually makes Trump look more centrist could work against them in that regard.
